2009 GQ Men of the Year Awards

The GQ Men of the Year Awards were held in London at the Royal Opera House, where lighting was bad and the dress code was "black and white, graphic, sheer." Or so it seemed.

Victoria Hesketh, a pop star who goes by the name "Little Boots," wore a rather interesting frock that looked like a decoupage of various bits of used tissues, etc. I don't hate it, but I do think it's a little busy. And is that uber-bleached blonde/raccoon eye slutty look *ever* going to die?

Pixie Lott says, "apparently not." She looks like she's been held hostage by an old movie buff who kept her restrained with a reel of film. She escaped in time to attend the party but not early enough to visit the salon first.

Lily Allen shows off her knickers. Is she standing that way so she won't fall down?

Like Allen, the gorgeous Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) chose the "my underwear are showing" look for the evening. While the look might work on someone else, I don't think it quite works on Pinto.

Alexandra Burke is also showing skin that otherwise seems covered. From this angle, the dress makes her look bootylicious and pregnant, which may or may not be bad things if she indeed is either one or both.

Louise Redknapp fashioned her dress out of an old prison uniform. Hate it.

Natalie Imbruglia forgot her slip, and possibly even her underwear. The dress, although sheer, somehow seems matronly on her. Maybe if it were several inches shorter....

Yoko Ono's look is neither good nor bad, just Yoko. But doesn't she look about 3 feet tall in this pic?

What's with the posture, boys? Guy Ritchie is obviously stooped from all the genuflecting he had to do while married to Madonna, but what's up with Elvis Costello? Or are they both greeting Yoko? Nifty hat, btw.
