2008 CFDA Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers of America had their invitation-only bash last night. My invite must have gotten lost in the mail, hmmm?
New York, NY, June 3, 2008 – Last night, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) paid tribute to the winners and honorees of the 2008 CFDA Fashion Awards in the Celeste Bartos Forum of The New York Public Library followed by dinner at the Bryant Park Grill. Top honors went to Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Tom Ford won Menswear Designer of the Year and Tory Burch took home Accessory Designer of the Year.

The Swarovski Award for Womenswear was given to Kate & Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte while the Swarovski Award for Menswear was presented to Scott Sternberg for Band of Outsiders. The Swarovski Award for Accessory Design went to Phillip Crangi. The Awards were generously underwritten by Swarovski. Recipients in each category will receive generous financial support from the company as well as exposure to the company’s vast and innovative CRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements.

The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Carolina Herrera.

Fabulous and not-so-fabulous fashionistas were on hand to celebrate.

Victoria Beckham posed her little heart out for this event. Poor dear must be exhausted! It looks to me that she might have a French pedicure - doesn't she know that's been classified as "tacky?" Poor Maggie Gyllenhaal looks like she would prefer to be anywhere but in that very spot right now.

Andre Leon Talley and Naomi Campbell arrived on Talley's flying carpet, judging by his turban and satin slippers and her harem-esque pants. I have no explanation for that hideous pink leather overcoat he's sporting though.

Newsflash! Donna Karan is only half a hot mess! (You pick the half.)
