Alice in Wonderland Royal World Premiere

Considering that Alice in Wonderland is a Tim Burton extravaganza starring the wonderfully odd Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp, the premiere would seem like a good place to get one's freak on.

Mia Wasikowska wore a gorgeous, vaguely Victorian, Valentino and a new gamine-esque 'do.

Helena Bonham Carter wore her usual layers of rags and bows, but somehow it suits her.

Eleanor Gecks dressed as the Cheshire Cat.

Daisy Lowe, 21-year-old daughter of Gavin Rossdale, showed up in her knickers and some fun candy-striped platform shoes. I hear she plays a hooker in the sequel.

Anne Hathaway wore Vivienne Westwood Couture. While interesting, and in a rather different color, I don't like the boob flaps or the asymmetrical hem. I don't like any of it, actually.

NINE Premiere Red Carpet

I think I wore something like Naomi Watt's outfit--peplum, gigantic shoulders and all--to a New Year's party once. In 1986.

Madonna, at age 51, is still attempting to look sexy by running around in her lingerie. Sad. Especially since her face looks so bad.

How much you wanna bet she'll look like Joan Rivers in the next 10 years? That much ugly isn't natural, that's for sure. In this day and age, there's no reason for a woman to look her age. With as much plastic surgery as Madge has had, she looks oh, 52, tops.

Franzisca Rothman (With Chopard honcho Mark Hruschka) looks to be another victim of 80s-style dress, this time in tacky gold. People - stylists are your friends. If you have the money but not the taste, please hire one!

Nicole Kidman apparently had a makeup malfunction this evening, with too much visible powder under her eyes, but at least she didn't get any of it on her black dress. I think she looks great, especially without her unwashed-looking husband hanging off of her.

Does anyone have any taste anymore? Seriously.

Julie & Julie Premiere

This is sorta, but not quite, a cross-post with my foodblog. Same event but different people.

So the premiere of the new movie Julie & Julia was last week and a bunch of celebs, semi-celebs, and foodie folk showed up for the event. The movie is based on two different books - the one by the same name, taken from the blog in which a struggling writer decides to cook all the recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and Mrs Child's My Life in France.

Amy Adams, stars in the movie as Julie Powell, the aforementioned struggling writer. I think she looks fantastic, even if the print on the dress is a bit Cruella De Vil (c'mon - it does so look like a dalmation).

Meryl Streep plays Julia Child. This woman can play anybody! Great actress, not so great dresser. One would think after her long and illustrious career, she could have afforded to get her tailor to sew the sleeves all the way down to the cuffs; perhaps she left her fortune in the care of Bernie Madoff....

At least she dressed up for the occasion more than actor Michael Badalucco and guest. She looks like she walked out of an 80s Avon Fashions catalog. And what's with his foot? I think his beer gut needs more Photoshopping than any of his extremities....

Fashion designer Rachel Roy only had time to get half dressed for the occasion. Those jeans are horrible, tacky, and probably cost $300.

And finally, the skeletal remains of Jasleen, a former winner of America's Next Top Model. The dress is weird, and she looks to be a lettuce leaf away from death. Someone hold her down and feed her a cheeseburger!

Quantum of Solace Premiere

The new 007 movie, Quantum of Solace, had it's world premiere last night at the Odeon Leicester Square in London. I thought Casino Royale was one of the best modern Bond movies to come out in a long time, so I am looking forward to catching the latest installment, which borrows its name (only) from one of Ian Fleming's short stories published in the collection For Your Eyes Only.

Daniel Craig, looking snazzy in what appears to be a dark blue tux, and minimal arm sling, and his partner Satsuki Mitchell.

Dame Judi Dench revealing too much of her chestal regions. Madame, you are not Helen Mirren!

Those Windsor-Mountbatten boys, Wills and Harry, also attended the premiere, both looking quite fabulous.

Musician Jack White and his wife, model Karen Elson. When did these two die? It appears that they've recently been exhumed and are looking for roles in the next Tim Burton movie. Jack does the theme song for Quantum of Solace, along with Alicia Keys. It's so horrible I could make it through only 53 seconds of the video I found on YouTube.

This is Gemma Arterton, a British actress playing the latest "Bond Girl." Slutty, slutty, slutty!
