I wish more women could afford to wear Carolina Herrera, then more women would look effortlessly elegant. I love the muted colors, the shapes, the textures of this collection.

NY Fall 2011 Fashion Week - Matthew Williamson
Matthew Williamson is one of my favorite designers, and I'm always excited to see how he's worked color and pattern into his latest collection. For some reason, this collection is reminding me of Mondo Guerra. Is it me, or do you see it too?

Tonight, on Joan & Melissa....
After last week’s disastrous blowup, Joan returns to New York to appear on Late Night with David Letterman, while Melissa resumes life without Joan. Cooper misses Joan, and deep down inside, so does Melissa. Can mother and daughter forgive and forget?
Tune in tonight at 9pm | 8c, on WE!

Stiletto, by Nicole Amy
The other day I received a sample of a new scent called Stiletto in the mail. The accompanying PR materials seemed more interested in the story of how Nicole Amy Rabbat purchased the rights to an existing scent and made it her own by packaging it in a cute shoe-shaped bottle than in the fragrance itself. Sure the packaging is cute, but for a perfumista like me, the juice is the most important element.
From the Web site:
Buy it for the bottle.
50ml = $42, available at Nicole Amy Fragrances.

From the Web site:
Stiletto is a subtle, yet memorable fragrance. A musky scent with hints of vanilla bean and sandalwood, Stiletto is the perfect potion for a girls night out, or a romantic evening in. Meant to break boundaries and cement a woman's individuality, the perfume is bottled in the shape of a sexy "Stiletto" heel punctuated with gold plated studs. Every girl loves shoes, and smelling like a million dollars- Stiletto combines the two. Exuding a sexy and feminine vibe, Stiletto ensures that whether you are walking into a party, or making an exit, you will not be easily forgotten!Sooo....vanilla bean, sandalwood, musk. It's not much more complicated than that. Actually, I really only smell the vanilla. It's not super-sweet or candy-like, just...vanilla. Pleasant enough, particularly the drydown which might have some musky undertones. Generic, but rather a welcome change from all of the awful fruity-patchouli-floral celebrity scents that have saturated the market these days.
Buy it for the bottle.

NY Fall 2011 Fashion Week - Oscar de la Renta
The words that come to mind when I saw the pieces in the Fall '11 Oscar de la Renta show were, "rich," "opulent," and "ethnic." There's nothing plain-jane about this collection of stunning gowns, furs, and richly embroidered separates. Beautiful excess.

NY Fall 2011 Fashion Week - The Blonds
Time for some cray-cray! This is stuff no mere mortal would wear, but apparently Katy Perry and Lady Gaga lap it up!

2011 Bafta Awards
Let's see how the Brits dress up for fancy awards shows....
JK Rowling chose to wear a particularly ill-fitting dress. The bodice is so big, you can even see part of her bra sticking out in the close-up shot.
Dropped waists should have stayed in the 80s, on wedding gowns, where they belong. Emilia Fox is stumparrific in this nightgown.
Annette Bening looked regal and gorgeous.
I usually think she's a giant nothing, but Jessica Alba looked stunning in this gown by Atelier Versace. The color is really beautiful.
Meredith Ostrom must have confused her invitations. This is the BAFTAs, not the Slutterific Porn Awards.
Sarah Harding, in a trashy look straight from the Fredericks of Hollywood catalog.
I think the print on the bodice of Natascha McElhone's gown is a bit too large in scale, and the peach elbow-length gloves have got to go!
Emma Watson, in Valentino Spring 2011 Couture: "Please stop taking photos of me! I'm exhausted! And I got my ruffle dirty."
Thandie Newton in Monique Lhuillier Spring 2011. Great dress, great color, but I think her necklace looks a bit puny by comparison.
Who are you, and what did you do with Helena Bonham Carter? This is a bit tame for her, don't you think? Without all the cray-cray, you can tell she's actually a beautiful woman.
