The ring on Diana's hand. |
After eight long years of dating, Prince William finally popped the question to girlfriend Kate Middleton. He gave her his mother Princess Diana's engagement ring, a large oval sapphire surrounded by fourteen small diamonds, designed by former crown jewelers Garrard & Co. Back in the 80s, similar rings started showing up on the fingers of engaged commoners everywhere - will we see a resurgence today?
Similar rings are available on the Internet, like this $18,500 baby from

Personally, I'm a round-diamond gal and am not at all fond of colored gemstones in engagement rings, particularly large ovals. What do you think?
